The assignment
For Tiemex’s new site in ’s-Heerenberg, UTPinfra delivered the full digital infrastructure and security environment. With no complete network or security baseline in place, we could design from the ground up: reliable, scalable and easy to operate.
Timing mattered. Cabling routes and mount points had to be ready before racking went in. Coordinating with other trades kept work in the right sequence — from survey through install, configuration, testing and handover.
Central MER + IDFs
Central MER with three linked IDF patch cabinets — neatly terminated and labeled for operations and growth.
Fiber backbone
OM4 links between MER and IDFs for a fast, reliable backbone across the full site.
Data cabling & Wi-Fi
Cabling to access points, mounting and termination — stable coverage for scanners, machines and office use.
CCTV & Ajax alarm
IP camera coverage of critical zones plus a scalable Ajax Grade 2 system for doors, zones and tamper events.
Technical detail
Fiber as a reliable backbone
The central MER was linked via OM4 fiber to three distributed IDF cabinets so Tiemex can move high volumes of traffic between every part of the building without friction.
- OM4 8-fiber links
- Fiber trays measured and labeled
- Clear cabinet layout for maintenance
Data cabling and Wi-Fi
Cabling, cabinets, fiber and Wi-Fi delivered as one system — fewer hand-offs between installers. The infrastructure supports internet, scanners, mobile devices, machines and cameras.
- Data runs to Wi-Fi access points
- Mounting and termination of APs
- Solid base for business-critical apps
CCTV for critical zones
Mount positions and sight lines planned up front so key indoor and outdoor zones are covered. Includes NVR setup and a short operator briefing at handover.
- Data and PoE cabling for cameras
- Mounting, aiming and NVR configuration
- Recording profiles, detection zones and testing
Ajax Grade 2 alarm system
After network and cameras, Tiemex also asked for physical hall security. The wireless Ajax system protects doors, roller shutters and zones — including tamper, power loss and comms failures.
- Central hub with range extenders
- About 60 door and shutter contacts
- 25 motion sensors, sirens and keypads
The result
- ✓ Fast OM4 fiber backbone between MER and IDFs
- ✓ Neatly terminated and labeled data cabling
- ✓ Stable infrastructure for Wi-Fi, scanners and machines
- ✓ Professional CCTV coverage of key zones
- ✓ Scalable Ajax Grade 2 alarm system
- ✓ Single point of contact for network, cameras, alarm and support
“One partner for network and security — from design to a fully operational handover.”
